Infecciones respiratorias agudas: factores ambientales asociados a prácticas preventivas en madres de niños menores de 5 años en el centro poblado Bello Horizonte - Tarapoto. Julio - noviembre 2017

Abstract

Las Infecciones Respiratorias Agudas (IRAs) son actualmente, uno de los principales problemas de morbilidad y mortalidad, en los niños menores de 5 años. El presente estudio de investigación tuvo como objetivo “Determinar la asociación que existe entre los Factores Ambientales y las Prácticas Preventivas sobre Infecciones Respiratorias Agudas en madres de niños menores de 5 años en el Centro Poblado Bello Horizonte – Tarapoto, Julio -noviembre 2017”. La población estuvo conformada por 75 madres de niños menores de 5 años y una muestra conformada por 40 madres. La técnica utilizada fue la entrevista y el instrumento una encuesta. De las 40 madres involucradas en el estudio, la edad más prevalente se encuentra entre 25 y 35 años de edad que consigna al 75% de ellas, la ocupación más resaltante es la de ama de casa con el 85%, en lo que respecta a su nivel de instrucción, se consigna como nivel más prevalente el de primaria incompleta con el 27,5%. Con respecto a los factores influyentes para que el niño presente IRAs, se obtuvieron tres factores relevantes: Cambio brusco de temperatura (65%), contaminación del ambiente (55%) y tabaquismo pasivo (25%). Entre las prácticas de prevención prevalentes se obtuvieron: vacunar al niño (82,5%); así mismo el 80% de madres opta por mantener condiciones higiénicas de la vivienda. En conclusión, existe una asociación significativa entre los factores ambientales: contaminación ambiental (p-valor = 0,033), tabaquismo pasivo (p-valor = 0,032) y las prácticas preventivas sobre Infecciones Respiratorias Agudas en madres de niños menores de 5 años en el Centro Poblado Bello Horizonte

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) are currently one of the main problems of morbidity and mortality in children under 5 years of age. The objective of this research study was to "Determine the association that exists between the Environmental Factors and the Preventive Practices on Acute Respiratory Infections in mothers of children under 5 years of age in the Bello Horizonte Town Center - Tarapoto, July-November 2017". The population consisted of 75 mothers of children under 5 years of age and a sample made up of 40 mothers. The technique used was the interview and the instrument a survey. Of the 40 mothers involved in the study, the most prevalent age is between 25 and 35 years of age that consigns 75% of them, the most outstanding occupation is that of a housewife with 85%, with regard to their level of instruction is the most prevalent level of incomplete elementary school with 27.5%. With respect to the influential factors for the child to present IRAs, three relevant factors were obtained: Abrupt change in temperature (65%), environmental contamination (55%) and passive smoking (25%). Among the prevalent prevention practices were obtained: vaccinate the child (82.5%); Likewise, 80% of mothers choose to maintain hygienic housing conditions.
