Abstract: El presente estudio, tiene como objetivo conocer la gestión de manejo de los residuos sólidos hospitalarios como estrategia para implementar una gestión adecuada, respetando la normatividad vigente. El método aplicado es de tipo cuantitativo, no experimental de tipo transeccional y análisis descriptivo; la muestra es el Centro de Salud Morales, incluyéndose sus servicios ofertados. La técnica para recolección de información es la ficha de observación. Los resultados obtenidos en el presente estudio son: en la etapa de acondicionamiento del manejo de los residuos hospitalarios, tiene la condición de aceptable; mientras tanto en las etapas de segregación y almacenamiento, almacenamiento intermedio, transporte interno, almacenamiento final, tratamiento de los residuos sólidos y recolección externa tienen condición de muy deficientes. Por lo tanto, de las siete etapas que conforma el manejo de residuos sólidos hospitalarios una sola etapa tiene condición de aceptable; mientras tanto, las demás etapas tienen condición de muy deficiente; llegando solo a un 14% de cumplimiento, existiendo una amplia brecha por mejorar de un 86%. Las principales conclusiones de la gestión de manejo de residuos sólidos hospitalarios en el Centro de Salud de Morales; está enmarcada en la evaluación de cada etapa que conforma el manejo de los residuos sólidos hospitalarios, identificando 6 etapas críticas que impiden desarrollar eficientemente los procesos del manejo de residuos sólidos hospitalarios, impactando negativamente al medio ambiente que va en perjuicio de la salud de los usuarios externos e internos del establecimiento; asimismo, afectando el ornato de la ciudad. Por otro lado, las etapas con condición de muy deficiente; se vincula en tres ejes temáticos: Primero la dirección de gestión, donde existe una pobre logística para abastecer con materiales adecuados para mejorar las etapas del manejo de residuos sólidos y minimizar los accidentes laborales en el personal responsable. Segundo, relacionada con la capacidad y competencias del recurso humano encargado del manejo de los residuos sólidos hospitalarios, donde es deficiente la direccionalidad, acompañamiento y desempeño quienes aún no han incorporado de manera sistemática la normativa; finalmente, el personal de salud cuenta con una débil cultura del manejo de los residuos sólidos, donde sus actividades rutinarias de atención no se vincula con la normatividad faltando institucionalizar la gestión de manejo de residuos sólidos.
The present study has the aim to know the management of the solid hospital waste handling as a strategy to implement appropriate management, in compliance with current regulations. The method applied is quantitative, no experimental of transactional type and descriptive analysis; the sample is the Health Center of Morales, including its services offered. The technique for collecting information is the observation sheet. The results obtained in this study are: in the stage of preparation of the hospital waste handling has the condition of acceptable; meanwhile in the stages of separation and storage, intermediate storage, internal transportation, final disposal, treatment of solid waste and external collection have very poor conditions. Therefore, of the seven stages forming the handling of solid hospital waste only one step has the condition of acceptable; meanwhile, the other stages have very poor conditions; reaching only 14 per cent of completion, there is a wide gap to improve of 86 per cent. The main conclusions of the management of the solid hospital waste handling in the Health Center of Morales are: it is framed in the evaluation of each step that forms the handling of solid hospital waste, identifying six critical steps that impede the efficient development of the processes of the solid hospital waste handling, impacting negatively to the environment which is detrimental to the health of external and internal users of the institution; affecting also the ornament of the city. Furthermore, the stages with very poor conditions; they are entailed in three themes: First the management direction where there is poor logistic to supply suitable materials to enhance stages of solid waste handling and minimize working accidents in the responsible personnel. Second, related to the capacity and skills of human resources in charge of the solid hospital waste handling, which is poor in the direction, performance and support of whom have not built systematically rules yet; finally, the health staff has a weak culture of solid waste handling, where their routine care activities are not linked to the missing regulations. They need to institutionalize the management of the solid waste handling.
