Factores asociados a complicaciones postoperatorias de apendicitis aguda en el Hospital MINSA II-2 Tarapoto en el periodo enero – diciembre 2017

Abstract

OBJETIVOS: Determinar los principales Factores Asociados a las complicaciones postoperatorias de apendicitis aguda en el Hospital MINSA II-2 Tarapoto, durante el periodo comprendido de enero a diciembre del 2017. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo, de tipo cualitativo, en 635 pacientes. Se determinó asociaciones entre pacientes intervenidos quirúrgicamente de apendicitis aguda a una complicación postoperatoria. RESULTADOS: El 18 % de la serie sufrió algún tipo de complicación, principalmente en la infección del sitio operatorio. Las complicaciones se vieron asociadas al grupo etario comprendido entre 20 a 29 años, así como en las formas histopatológicas más avanzadas de la afección. La aparición de tales complicaciones puede ser causa de re-intervenciones y de aumento de la estadía hospitalaria. CONCLUSIÓN: El diagnóstico precoz de la enfermedad y la apendicetomía inmediata con una técnica quirúrgica adecuada previenen la aparición de complicaciones posquirúrgicas y determinan el éxito del único tratamiento eficaz contra la afección más común que causa el abdomen agudo, cuyo pronóstico depende en gran medida y entre otros factores, del tiempo de evolución preoperatoria y de la fase en que se encuentre el proceso al realizar la intervención.

OBJECTIVES: To determine the main factors associated with postoperative complications of acute appendicitis in the Hospital MINSA II-2 Tarapoto, during the period from January to December 2017. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective qualitative study was conducted in 635 patients. Associations were determined between patients surgically treated for acute appendicitis and a postoperative complication. RESULTS: 18% of the series suffered some type of complication, mainly in the infection of the operative site. The complications were associated to the age group between 20 and 29 years, as well as in the most advanced histopathological forms of the condition. The appearance of such complications can be cause of re-interventions and increase of the hospital stay. CONCLUSIONS: Early diagnosis of the disease and immediate appendectomy with an adequate surgical technique prevent the appearance of postsurgical complications and determine the success of the only effective treatment against the most common condition that causes the acute abdomen, whose prognosis depends to a great extent and between other factors, the time of preoperative evolution and the phase in which the process is found when performing the intervention.
