The objective of the research was to determine the relationship between obstetric ultrasound and the diagnosis of fetal malformation in the second trimester of gestation at Hospital Bellavista 2019. The research was basic, non-experimental, quantitative, descriptive correlational. The population was made up of all pregnant women at term who come to be attended at the obstetric center of the Bellavista Hospital, there were 400 deliveries with obstetric ultrasound results and the sample was made up of 213 pregnant women at term who ended in delivery. A data collection form was used as an instrument to collect the necessary information for the study, with a documentary review of 213 medical records of the pregnant women. Results: the correlational statistics of variables corresponding to maternal age and fetal malformation showed that 7.5% of the total number of pregnant women attended presented fetal malformation in their pregnancies, of the total, 1.9%, are between 18 and 35 years old and 5.6% between 36 and 46 years old. In terms of origin and fetal malformation, 7.5% of the total number of pregnant women attended of which 6.1% were from urban areas and 1.4% from rural areas. In the case of pregnant women with previous pregnancies, 34.7% had more than 6 check-ups and 34.0% had their first delivery; those with 2 or more deliveries 66.0% had the most frequent basic ultrasound with 98.1% and morphological ultrasound with 1.9%. Regarding obstetric dimensions and fetal malformations, basic ultrasounds were performed more frequently with 98.1%, comprising 14 pathologies diagnosed as fetal cardiopathies 0.9%, fetal esophageal atresia 0.9%, fetal macrosomia 0.9%, fetal polydactyly 1.9%, fetal oligohydramnion 1.9%, on the other hand 1.9% are morphological ultrasound, comprising microcephaly 0.5% and cleft lip 0.5%. It can be concluded that the number of newborns with fetal malformation was 85.75% with basic ultrasound and only 12.5% were performed with morphological ultrasound. In conclusion, it can be stated that 99.0% of the pregnant women attended had a normal newborn, being the most representative with a high percentage, and the prevalence of fetal malformation was 7.5%. Ultrasound continues to be, in expert hands, an ideal, relatively inexpensive or effective means for the diagnosis of fetal malformations
