La presente investigación se realizó con una muestra de 80 estudiantes del Quinto grado del nivel secundaria, correspondiente al VIl Ciclo de Eduqación Básica Regular de la Institución Educativa N° 00884 "Los Olivos" del Distrito de Nueva Cajamarca, Provincia de Rioja, en el periodo lectivo 2009. A partir de un estudio "ex post tacto transversal- correlacionar como la estrategia para determinar el grado de relación entre las variables se utilizaron los métodos teóricos de inducción, análisis, síntesis, así como los métodos empíricos de medición y métodos estadísticos, como también, técnicas de prueba y encuesta individual. Los resultados corroboran nuestra hipótesis de investigación, ya que al realizar las · pruebas estadísticas se observó que el promedio del test. de educación ambiental de los estudiantes es Regular e insuficiente (12 puntos en la escala vigesimal) y el promedio en la encuesta sobre el desarrollo del área de Ciencia Tecnología y Ambiente también se ubica en el nivel criterial de Regular (13 representando este puntaje una valoración de tendencia Negativa. Lo cual evidencia que el desarrollo del área de Ciencia Tecnología y Ambiente condiciona en forma heterogénea e insuficiente el nivel de educación ambiental de los estudiantes del quinto grado del nivel secundaria de la Institución Educativa N° 00884 "Los Olivos" del Distrito de Nueva Cajamarca, Provincia de Rioja, puesto que eJ valor del estadístico de prueba Y calculada (0.524) es superior al valor crítico ('(tabulada (0.251) con 78 grados de libertad y se ubica en la región de rechazo de la hipótesis nula. Por lo tanto se confirma nuestra hipótesis de investigación.
